The easiest receipt system is the one you use while the purchase is still fresh. If receipts sit in a vehicle, toolbox, email inbox or wallet until the end of the quarter, they are already at risk.
Start by choosing one capture point. Take a photo before leaving the supplier, forward email receipts to the same place, and add a short note if the purchase relates to a job, vehicle, client or warranty.
The goal is not perfect admin. The goal is to reduce the number of missing records when you need to review expenses, prepare BAS records or answer a question from your bookkeeper.
